Overview
Venture on this mountain journey in the Aysen Region, crossing the Lunar Valley and the Jeinimeni National Park, through pristine rivers, forests and lagoons, where exploration and wild landscapes are the most important element. Making this experience something unusual in these times, where almost everything is discovered.
This is a trackless path, where the traveller must intuit step by step the best path to travel. The physical and mental preparation of each participant is a priority and logistics are of vital importance.
We will use previously installed mountain refuges with very simple "luxuries" such as a hot shower looking at the forest, the glaciers or one of the innumerable lakes that adorn the Patagonian landscape of the area.
The accommodation is made in mountain tents in camping mode, always in very delimited places to avoid the deterioration of the pristine and natural landscape in which we will be immersed.
Itinerary
DAY 1. MEETING IN COYHAIQUE
Our meeting point will be in the city of Coyhaique, where we will have an introductory talk to review the plan, discuss the conditions of the trip and clarify general doubts. *Does not include accommodation in Coyhaique.
DAY 2. BARGE CROSSING TO CHILE CHICO – HIKING VALLE LUNAR
We will leave very early from Coyhaique in a private transfer. We will cross the General Carrera Lake to later take the path to the Lunar Valley where we will hike for approximately 3 to 4 hours. The idea is to be able to check the rhythm of the group, activate our bodies and observe the beautiful and unique valley full of rocks and Tehuelche vestiges (indigenous of the area). Return to cabins and equipment preparation for later days. Dinner and rest.
DAY 3. ENTRANCE TO JEINIMENI NATIONAL PARK
Very early breakfast. Transportation to the national park. It will be approximately 24 kilometers of trails that are not well marked and full of rivers in exploration mode, where the Paso La Gloria will be our first objective. After crossing the majestic Lago Verde, we will enter a canyon until we reach El Refugio Glaciar. Dinner and rest.
DAY 4. VISIT THE GLACIER AND SHELTER 1
A day in the mountains with beautiful views and gentle hiking of 3 to 4 kilometres to go see the Cerro Baguales Glacier. Later we will enjoy the shelter and camp preparing everything for the next day. Mountain dinner and rest.
DAY 5. FACHINAL VALLEY CROSSING – SHELTER 2
Good hiking of 12 kilometres between Mallines and Lengas in the direction of the valley. In this area, it is possible to observe animals from the area and see how the vegetation changes as we go.
DAY 6. SHELTER 2 - DEPARTURE TO FACHINAL
On our last day, we will walk 22 kilometres. The activity begins with a river crossing, to continue down a canyon where we will observe the valley from viewpoints, always looking for the Fachinal sector. From this point, we will return by transport to the Chile Chico sector, where we will enjoy a celebratory barbecue and recharge our batteries with a well-deserved rest. End of program.
