Overview
Walking through the Dientes de Navarino trail is much more than a physical trial, is in fact a challenge to all your senses. Magellanic clouds, strong wind, snow and ice will follow you in every step. It is essential to be prepared to allow you to enjoy and be inmerse in this unique nature. A journey through the purest ecosystems in the world, listening the silence of the wind and the breath of the mountains. An invitation to rediscover the zero point.
Itinerary
Arrival day, Briefing, and review of equipment.
After enjoy breakfast at the hotel or Hostal, we will be driven to the water intake of Rio Róbalo where the Circuit begins to start trekking at 9.30. First, we cross the woods, climbing up to about 600 mts high, until we get to the top where waves a big Chilean flag and we can enjoy the panoramic view of the town, the Beagle Channel, and Tierra del Fuego. Then we continue following the timberline of the Róbalo valley until we reach Laguna del Salto and set camp.
After breakfast and striking camp, we start trekking at 9.00. We continue following the path to Australia Pass, surrounding the Dientes Massif, we can appreciate the South of the island: Lake and Bay Windhand, with the Wollaston islands behind, in the northern part of the Cape Horn archipelago. An intense moment where you literally see the end of the World. Then we will walk until we reach an appropriate camping place between Laguna de Los Dientes and Laguna Escondida, around 19.00.
After breakfast and striking camp, we start trekking at 9.00. The path will lead us through a fairytale landscape, between lagoons and forest with the Dientes mountain range as a backdrop. We will continue until we reach Ventarrón pass and Guerrico pass, climbing around 700mts high, and approaching the beautiful Guerrico valley. We will stop to have lunch around 13.00 and then keep going until we find a good camping spot between Laguna Martillo and Laguna Zeta around 19.00.
Breakfast at 8:00 am and break camp to begin our trek at 9:00 am. We walk along rivers and wetlands that lead us uphill to Virginia Pass. Prepare to climb uphill on the rocky terrain that we have gotten to know so well during the first few days of the trek. After crossing the pass, the highest point of the trek, our descent will take us through a fun trail and to our camp next to the Laguna Los Guanacos.
Breakfast at 8:00 am and break camp to begin our trek at 9:00 am. Our final day on the trail takes us through another resplendent lenga forest, meadows, and pastures on the way to Virginia Bay and Puerto Williams. The afternoon is yours to discover Puerto Williams, including the local museum to learn more about the indigenous tribes of Tierra del Fuego.
